Help bring our convention to life
The California Mermaid Convention started its life as Mermaid Weekend in Sacramento, in 2014. As one of the longest-running mermaid events in the country, we have always involved our community, leaders in the mermaid industry, and our local friends in Sacramento.
If you are a Sacramento local, or plan on being in Sacramento in May, we could use a few helping 'fins' during our convention. From checking in guests, to monitoring rooms, to assisting with cleanup, there are lots of jobs for our very small staff to handle alone!
As a volunteer, you will receive
- Official California Mermaid Convention merchandise; including an exclusive volunteer t-shirt
- A ticket to the event you are working
- Food and beverages during your volunteer duration
PLEASE NOTE - to volunteer you MUST be able to attend a mandatory zoom meeting on Thursday May 14th, 2025 at 5 PM to learn about your volunteer duties, how to pick up your t-shirt etc.
Please note that we will be building highly organized volunteer teams, with strict scheduling and specific jobs. If there is any chance you feel that you may need to back out of your duties, please reconsider volunteering.

Bring Magic to Children at the con!
The California Mermaid Convention is seeking out working merfolk who love swimming, playing games with, and entertaining our youngest convention attendees for one hour during the con.
We are seeking performers with at least a year of experience entertaining children as a mermaid. This is a paid performance job.
