Give thanks to our Sacramento waterways by participating in a River Clean Up, sponsored through the American River Parkway Foundation. Our beloved Sacramento river has been particularly impacted in the past few years due to urban camping, pollution, algae blooms, and increasingly hot summers. As merfolk, we must be true stewards of our aquatic environments, and protect and work for what we cherish.
Join us on the American River for an on-water clean-up starting at River Bend and ending at Watt. We are partnering with American River Raft Rentals to raft down the river picking up trash and pulling invasive plants.
We are looking for four or five mermaids to join us IN TAIL on each raft to help with the cleanup! If you would like to wear your tail for a portion of the cleanup, please let us know.
Arrive promptly at 8 AM for a safety briefing and distribution of cleaning supplies. We will head out by 8:15AM and plan to make it to the end of the route by 12:30pm. Rafters, kayakers, canoers, scuba divers, etc. are invited! If you don't have a pick up plan you can use American River Raft Rentals shuttle service back to River Bend by 1:00pm.
