The Promenade of Mermaids - Friday May 17th - 4 PM to 7 PM
A Sacramento Tradition since 2011!
The Promenade of Mermaids helped build the California Mermaid Convention into what it is today. This FREE, family friendly celebration brings music, energy, life and color into Old Town Sacramento every year. Join us as we march the through the streets, smile and shout with merfolk joy!
Please dress in your favorite merfolk, nautical, pirate, sea creature or other watery costumes and apparel. We will have vendors on site, as well as games and activities. We will also be teaching a Flash Mob dance to all marches who would like to participate!
Small, hand wheeled carts are allowed to participate in the parade, but no large floats or vehicles please.
Bring your shell purse! Our wonderful selection of vendors will be selling their wares, and the shops in Old Town will have fin-tastic offerings for all.

- The Promenade Marches from the Embarcadero in Old Town, Sacramento promptly at 6 PM

We are thrilled to present our 2024 Grand Marshall, Mermaid Kinosa! When we say this mer should have frequent flyer points for CMC events... we aren't kidding. Kinosa is is a mer-fect example of the kind, thoughtful and generous community we have created at Cali Mer Con! Say hi when you see her swimming around this year!
Mermaid Kinosa Says...
"Mermaiding isn’t just my favorite hobby, it’s also my happy place. Ever since I learned how to swim, I remember pretending to be a mermaid every time I got in the water. There is nothing more peaceful than sinking beneath the surface and letting the world become muffled. I absolutely love swimming, but mermaiding can also be so much more. When I began participating in the mermaid community, I learned mermaids can also be under water models, entertainers, certified free divers, and ocean advocates.
I’m so grateful to be part of the California mermaid community. Through the community and especially the California Mer Con and its events, I’ve had the opportunity to grow my confidence in being in front of a camera and improve my swimming techniques. Not to mention I’ve made some great friends! Thanks so much to the California Mer Con (especially Rachel, Ashley, and Sagah) for being so supportive and open to all kinds of mers! You’ve made me feel so welcome and I’ve learned so much!"
